Mr. Barry Chin Fatt was appointed as a Commissioner of the Fair Trading Commission by Her Excellency Christine Kangaloo, the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on April 8, 2026.
Mr. Chin Fatt is an accomplished business executive who currently serves as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the GESSCO Group, with a presence in Miami, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago. In this role, he is responsible for the full scope of the Group’s operations, including Sales and Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources, and reports directly to the Board of Directors. GESSCO Group serves as the regional agent for Current Lighting Solutions, GE Appliances and Midea across Central America and the Caribbean.
Prior to this, Mr. Chin Fatt held several senior positions within General Electric International, including Regional Finance Manager for Central America and the Caribbean, Corporate Business Country Manager, and Corporate Team Leader for Trinidad. During his tenure at GE Oil and Gas, he played a key role in aligning the company’s operations with the regulatory and policy requirements of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. His responsibilities included establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures for domestic operations, as well as ensuring compliance with the United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) within GE Trinidad and the Caribbean Region, covering over 300 Companies and 17 Islands, 25 Countries.
Mr. Chin Fatt has also contributed significantly to professional and industry organisations. He has served as both Treasurer and Chairman of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) locally, and has been actively involved in several committees of the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAMTT) and the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA). He has participated in various TTMA trade missions, including engagements in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Suriname, and remains a longstanding member of AMCHAMTT.
